It's Christmas Time!!

OK people. I promise to get better at this once time restraints are no longer an issue. How vague is that? Anyway, we are rapidly approaching one of my very favorite times of the year. Christmas. While I am not overly religious, I will always put Christ in Christmas. More out of respect than anything, but for some reason it annoys the bejeebus out of me to see the X in front of it. Are you lazy or what? If you are an atheist or whatever, I could see it but then why celebrate it at all. Oh well. To each his own, you know?

Now, onto the fun stuff. PRESENTS!! I LOVE giving presents!! It totally makes my year. I look forward to this all year. I even start super early. This year, I have become crafty. For those of you who know me, I do not where/why/when this happened, but it did. Get over it. So I am actually making a lot of my gifts this year. I personally would rather have a gift that you made and actually put some thought into than a store bought, so that is what I am doing for the majority of my friends and family. Probably not my children because, well, they are children. And they sprang from my loins and I did not always feel this way.

I am not making the gifts to be cheap. On the contrary, it actually costs a lot more to be crafty than to just go buy something. But it is so fun and I promise, a lot of thought, effort and hard work has gone into it. So if you are (un)lucky enough to receive a gift from me this year - that was the thought process behind it. I hope you like it. If not, jump right up my butt!

I am also in the process of Griswolding my home and office. I bought the cutest Charlie Brown Christmas tree ever last night and I am going to put it up in my office and decorate it to death. So cute.

Well, I feel like I have rambled on long enough for y'all to be annoyed so I will close with this. Whatever your religion or lack thereof, this is a wonderful time of year. It is to be filled with love, laughter and merriment. Please, hug your family and friends tight. Tell them you love them - even if sometimes you don’t - because they may not always be there and time marches on no matter how hard I try to stop it.

I'll try to bore you again before the actual holiday, but with the parties, work and finals it is going to be busy so I want to tell you now, Merry Christmas my friendlies. You are appreciated and loved. Whether you want to be or not!

Happy Veterans Day Y'all!

Sorry for the absence lately folks.  I had a big long excuse reason to share with you, but I'm sure that you are not interested in that.  This post is going to be short, sweet and to the point.  It wont be funny or irreverant as on this day, I do not think that it is called for.  Trust me, there will not be many posts like this as it is just not in my nature to not be a smart ass.

Did you realize that today is Veterans Day?  My father did not exactly tell the truth about his age so that he could join the Marines and go to Viet Nam.  My oldest brother was in the Navy and everyone of my mom and dads brothers were in the service.  I am very proud of this fact and thankful at the very same time.

I will not bore you with what I do for a living, but the most fulfilling part is my work with Veterans.  They are easily the most respectful, gracious and appreciated group of people.  It really does make it easier to come to work every day.

As a perk of my job, I got to go to the Veterans Day parade that takes place about 2 blocks from my office.  There were so many Veterans from every branch of the service and someone was represented from almost every war.  I was very impressed and touched that they took time out of their busy lives to come and let us thank them.

One of the highlights was that I got to see a good friend and thank him in person for his service.  I enjoyed that!  One of the heartbreaking facts of war was in the parade as well.  When the mothers and wives of fallen soldiers drove by, I was moved to tears.  I was seriously standing on the side of the road bawling.  I cannot fathom the sacrifice from these families.

Little backstory, my youngest son is determined to become a Marine.  While I find it honorable and precious beyond words that he wants to follow in my fathers footsteps, I am having a difficult time imagining someone wanting to shoot at that precious face.  It infuriates me.  I do not even like him playing football. How dare those other boys not just let him run down the field! But my father always says, 'it has to be someone's son.'

So, to conclude this incredibly short post I will say, go thank a Veteran today.  If you know one, go buy him or her lunch or dinner or just sit and visit with them.  If you are kin to one, go give them a hug.  Tell them how much their bravery and sacrifice means to you.  I tell my father every year how much I appreciate what he did for our country and I cry every year.

Happy Veterans Day y'all.

Ok folks.  We are going to try this again.  Due to several issues with tumblr. We are switching to BlogSpot as a fellow blogger has informed me that this is a much easier format.  And if you have read any of my previous posts, which I'm doubting that you have or you probably would not be reading this right now, you know that I need things to be as easy as possible.
So, short story super long, this is going to be the maiden post of the new blog on the new site.  I was unable to read or see any notes on the last blog post and judging the by the sheer number of notes (11!) I have either hit a sore spot or I have sparked a revolution.  I have done both, so I'm excited to see if we can recreate said event.  Here goes nothing!!
First, let me just say how sorry I am that it has been so long since my last post.  I am a busy girl.  Busy, lazy, whatever!
Ok, I am now going to regale with a tale that will make you laugh, cry and then start all over again.  Or none of the above.
I do have to preface this and tell you that I recently went on a Murder Mystery dinner with my coworkers.  I know, ugh, right?! Locked up in a haunted house with my coworkers and I’m NOT being paid for this?! But it was actually a blast! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly suggest that if you have a few hours to spend while in Guthrie, Oklahoma, stop on by the Stone Lion Inn.  You will not be disappointed! The food, the ambiance and the stories are well worth your time. (PS - I was not the killer.  I was shocked too!)
While in Guthrie, I met a gentleman (and I use that term VERY LOOSELY!) who did nothing but brag to my gorgeous friend about the restaurant that he owns and all that goes with it.  Total toolbag, but we were giving him the benefit of the doubt since he was hitting on our married friend and he had no chance in hell.  I mean, he was drunk and loud, but still.  That is, until he starts complaining about the ‘colored’ lady that won the trivia game that night.  Really dude? I do not know ANYONE who still uses that term.  When we said as much to this guy, his response was, ‘should I just say (insert ‘n’ word here!’)  My coworkers and I were flabbergasted!  I then went on to explain to him that that word is absolutely not acceptable but he would not stop.  He just kept on. I could tell that he was drunk and there was no reasoning with him so we then packed up our belongings, tabbed out and left.
The moral of the story here is this, do not EVER tell people that you are the proud owner a restaurant called ‘The Boneyard’ in Guthrie, Oklahoma and then go on a racist rant.  Not a good combo brother.  I told you that it was not acceptable and you chose to continue being a dumbass.  Well, here ya go! Ask and you shall receive!  Dumbass!
So, from here on out, I want everyone to know that if you eat at this establishment, you will be giving your hard earned money to a racist @sshole.  The rest is up to you!
**UPDATE** I don’t know what is going on with tumblr, but I cannot see/read your comments on this blog.  So, until I get this figured out or moved to another blog site, please feel free to email and I will be happy to respond.  Especially since this particular post is something that i feel VERY passionate about.
